Mr Denis Tang was appointed Director of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) in October 2018 to lead the Bureau in investigating, preventing and detecting corruption in Singapore. He spearheads CPIB’s mission to combat corruption through swift and sure, firm but fair action.

 

Mr Tang joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 1982 on the award of the Local Merit Scholarship (Police). He graduated with an Economics degree from the National University of Singapore and returned to serve in the SPF in November 1986.

 

With a distinguished career spanning more than 30 years, Mr Tang has served in several positions within the Home Team. His last appointment was the Deputy Commissioner of Operations at the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), which is responsible for keeping Singapore’s borders safe and secure. During his tenure at the ICA, he led efforts to strengthen border security operations, and sharpened ICA’s intelligence capabilities in the face of the terror threat. In addition, Mr Tang enhanced intelligence exchanges with ICA’s foreign partners to fight terrorism and transnational crimes.

 

With the SPF, Mr Tang held diverse portfolios in the areas of operations, contingency planning, policy and human resources. His key appointments included the Director of Manpower of the SPF, and the Commander of Jurong Police Division.

 

For his dedication, commitment and outstanding contributions to the Public Service, Mr Tang was conferred the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 1997, the Long Service Medal in 2017, and the Civil Service Long Service Award (35 years) in 2020.

 

Mr Tang’s current main priority is to further strengthen and fortify Singapore’s solid foundation of incorruptibility. He rallies his team at the CPIB to step up and achieve the shared vision of keeping Singapore clean and corruption-free for many generations to come. In the same spirit, he leads CPIB’s efforts to partner and work together with like-minded international partners on anti-corruption issues of mutual concern.
