Throughout the events, members held numerous productive bilateral and multilateral meetings, fostering vital connections. Furthermore, several forward-looking initiatives were proposed, including the organization of more regional conferences and specialized training sessions. These proposals are aimed at significantly enhancing international cooperation and capacity building and are expected to be put into effect starting next year. We urge all members and partners to stay tuned for these important developments.

IAACA President and ICAC Commissioner, Mr. Danny Woo, delivered his opening remarks online, as he was unable to attend the events in person. He explained that it was his urgent public duty to remain in Hong Kong to personally oversee the full corruption investigation into a recent tragic fire, a devastating incident reported to have claimed up to 160 lives and left many families homeless.

In his address, President Woo shared that the Hong Kong government and community are working together to support the affected families with financial aid and housing. He noted that despite this tragedy, the Legislative Council election proceeded as scheduled, highlighting the ICAC's crucial role in ensuring its fairness. President Woo emphasized that this not only demonstrates Hong Kong's unwavering respect for the rule of law but is also vital for forming a new legislature that can help prevent similar tragedies in the future.

He concluded by extending his sincere thanks to Advocate Andy JL Mothibi of South Africa for hosting several important meetings in his absence.
